Sierra Canyon Dominates Saint Louis in 52-0 Victory
CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Sierra Canyon continued its unbeaten start to the 2026 season with a dominant 52-0 victory over Saint Louis School of Honolulu on Thursday night, though the matchup ended early following an injury to Saint Louis quarterback Luke Shigeta.
Playing its first home game of the season, Sierra Canyon quickly established control against the Hawaiian powerhouse. The Trailblazers entered the matchup 2-0 after victories over JSerra Catholic and Chaminade-Madonna and wasted little time showing the same form that carried them through the opening weeks.
Sierra Canyon’s defense set the tone throughout the night. The Trailblazers consistently pressured the Saint Louis offense, forced turnovers and repeatedly turned defensive stops into favorable field position.
Those takeaways became a major part of the scoring. Sierra Canyon recorded multiple interception returns for touchdowns, allowing the defense to contribute directly to a rapidly growing advantage.
Offensively, the Trailblazers also found success through the air and on the ground. Sierra Canyon produced 208 passing yards as its offense complemented a defense that continually gave the unit opportunities to work with short fields.
By halftime, the game had already become one-sided. Sierra Canyon continued to apply pressure after the break and pushed its advantage to 52-0 during the third quarter.
The focus of the night shifted with 6:41 remaining in the third quarter when Shigeta was injured following a play. The Saint Louis sophomore quarterback remained down as medical personnel attended to him, and the game was stopped for an extended period.
Shigeta was eventually taken from the field by ambulance. Following the delay, Sierra Canyon head coach Jon Ellinghouse and then-Saint Louis head coach Tupu Alualu met at midfield and agreed to end the game early. The 52-0 score was recorded as the final.
The victory improved Sierra Canyon to 3-0, with the Trailblazers outscoring their first three opponents 118-28. Their opening stretch has included a 42-21 win over JSerra, a 24-7 road victory over Chaminade-Madonna in Florida and the shutout of Saint Louis.
For Sierra Canyon, the performance provided another demonstration of the team’s defensive strength and depth as the Trailblazers prepare for a difficult stretch of their schedule.
Sierra Canyon now turns its attention to another major Southern California matchup, hosting Orange Lutheran on Sept. 18 in Chatsworth.
