WEST HILLS, Calif. — Sierra Canyon continued its dominant 2026 high school football campaign Friday night, shutting out Chaminade 41-0 in a Mission League matchup at Chaminade High School.
The Trailblazers entered the contest undefeated and wasted little time demonstrating why they have established themselves among California’s top high school football programs.
Behind an explosive first-quarter offensive performance and relentless defensive pressure, Sierra Canyon overwhelmed the Eagles and improved to 8-0 on the season.

Quarterback Demarco Hernandez led the Trailblazers’ offense, throwing for 201 yards and accounting for three touchdowns. His ability to distribute the football and create opportunities on the ground helped Sierra Canyon establish control early.

Sierra Canyon quickly added to its advantage.
After forcing Chaminade into a three-and-out, the Trailblazers received favorable field position following a punt return by Duvay Williams.

The Trailblazers’ defense then delivered one of the defining plays of the evening.
Defensive back Jaxson Davis intercepted a tipped pass from Chaminade quarterback Hendrix Coleman and returned it for a touchdown, pushing Sierra Canyon’s advantage to 21-0.
The early defensive score highlighted the pressure Sierra Canyon applied throughout the game, consistently disrupting Chaminade’s offensive possessions.
Hernandez added another touchdown late in the first quarter, keeping the ball on a read-option play and scoring from four yards out.

Chaminade attempted to respond in the second quarter, but Sierra Canyon’s defense continued to create problems.
Defensive standout Marcus Fakatou played a major role in the shutout, recording seven tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and two forced fumbles.
His ability to penetrate the offensive line repeatedly forced Chaminade into difficult situations and prevented the Eagles from establishing any consistent rhythm.
Sierra Canyon’s special teams also contributed to the dominant performance.
The Trailblazers blocked two punts and repeatedly forced Chaminade to begin possessions deep in its own territory, creating additional scoring opportunities for the offense.
Before halftime, Hernandez connected with Christian Butler on a screen pass that developed into a 33-yard touchdown.
The score extended Sierra Canyon’s advantage to 35-0 heading into the locker room.
With the outcome largely decided, the second half featured fewer offensive opportunities as Sierra Canyon controlled possession and maintained its defensive intensity.
Two additional field goals completed the scoring, giving the Trailblazers a 41-0 victory.

The shutout represented Sierra Canyon’s third consecutive game without allowing a point, an impressive achievement against Mission League competition.
Across those three games, the Trailblazers outscored their opponents 140-0, demonstrating their effectiveness on both sides of the football.
For Chaminade, the loss marked its third consecutive defeat after opening the season with five straight victories.
The Eagles struggled to protect the football and generate sustained drives against Sierra Canyon’s defensive front.
Despite the difficult result, Chaminade’s defense produced several stops during the second quarter, preventing the Trailblazers from adding even more points before halftime.
Sierra Canyon head coach Jon Ellinghouse acknowledged after the game that his team still had areas to improve, particularly with offensive execution.
Even with a 41-point victory, the Trailblazers remained focused on correcting mistakes as they approached the final weeks of the regular season.

The win improved Sierra Canyon to 8-0 overall and strengthened its position atop the Mission League standings.

On Friday night, however, Sierra Canyon left little doubt.
The Trailblazers controlled the game from the opening possession and walked away with another convincing shutout victory.
