Moorpark Baseball’s CIF-SS Playoff Run Ends in Quarterfinal Loss to Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — Moorpark baseball’s CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoff run came to an end Friday afternoon, as the Musketeers fell to Laguna Beach 6-4 in the quarterfinal round.
After putting together a strong postseason push, Moorpark entered the matchup looking to keep its season alive and earn a spot in the semifinals. The Musketeers had already shown their ability to win in different ways during the playoffs, opening with a dominant 9-0 victory over La Serna before holding off Monrovia 8-6 in the second round.
Against Laguna Beach, Moorpark continued to compete, but the Breakers were able to create enough offense to take control and protect their lead late. The Musketeers stayed within striking distance and kept pressure on Laguna Beach, but they could not complete the comeback in the closing innings.
The loss ended a successful season for Moorpark, which finished 23-10 overall and reached the final eight in CIF-SS Division 4. Even though the quarterfinal result was not what the Musketeers wanted, their postseason run showed the team’s depth, toughness and ability to respond under pressure.
Moorpark’s playoff wins over La Serna and Monrovia helped highlight one of the team’s best stretches of the year. The Musketeers combined strong pitching, timely hitting and steady defense to advance through the bracket and give themselves a chance to play for a semifinal spot.
Laguna Beach moved on to face Grand Terrace in the semifinal round, while Moorpark closed its season after a competitive run through the Division 4 playoffs.
For the Musketeers, the quarterfinal loss marked the end of the road, but the season still stood as a strong campaign. Moorpark finished with more than 20 wins, earned multiple postseason victories and proved it could compete deep into the CIF-SS tournament.
