Houston Dynamo took control early and used a strong first half to put pressure on LAFC. Jack McGlynn opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a left-footed finish from outside the box after Houston broke forward in transition. Less than 10 minutes later, Guilherme doubled the lead with a deflected free kick near the edge of the penalty area, giving Houston a 2-0 advantage in the 34th minute.

LAFC responded just before halftime through Nathan Ordaz, who finished from close range after a low cross from Jacob Shaffelburg was flicked on by Stephen Eustáquio. The goal gave LAFC some momentum going into the break and cut Houston’s lead to 2-1.

One of the biggest storylines of the night was Houston’s efficiency in the final third. LAFC held more of the ball and created chances, but Houston made the most of its opportunities. The Dynamo stayed dangerous in transition, moved quickly into attacking spaces, and punished LAFC when the game opened up.

Houston put the match away early in the second half. Former LAFC attacker Mateusz Bogusz scored in the 51st minute after collecting his own rebound inside the box, pushing the lead to 3-1. Just four minutes later, McGlynn scored again with a low finish into the corner, completing his brace and sealing Houston’s 4-1 road win.

For LAFC, the match was a difficult result after a strong start to the MLS season. The Black & Gold created pressure and finished the match with more total shot attempts, but Houston’s finishing and counterattacking moments made the difference. LAFC dropped to 6W-3L-3D with 21 points after the loss.

The result also continued a strong run for Houston, which earned its sixth win in its last seven matches in all competitions. McGlynn’s two-goal performance became the highlight of the night and helped Houston leave Los Angeles with one of its biggest road results of the season.

LAFC still has plenty of the season ahead, but Sunday’s match showed areas the club will need to clean up before the schedule continues. With three games remaining before the FIFA World Cup break, the Black & Gold will look to regroup quickly and respond in their next matchup against St. Louis CITY SC.
