LOS ANGELES — Angel City FC continued its NWSL campaign in a Southern California matchup against San Diego Wave FC, facing another test in a competitive stretch of the season. Playing in front of its home crowd, Angel City looked to establish rhythm early, move the ball through the midfield, and create attacking opportunities against a familiar regional opponent.

Angel City showed moments of pressure throughout the match, especially when the team was able to move the ball wide and push numbers into the attacking third. The club looked to use pace on the outside and quick combinations around the box to break down San Diego’s defensive shape. While Angel City found stretches of possession, turning those moments into clear chances remained one of the biggest challenges of the night.

Defensively, Angel City had to manage San Diego’s speed in transition and stay organized when the Wave pushed forward. The match shifted quickly at times, forcing Angel City’s back line and midfield to react to counterattacks, second balls, and pressure around the penalty area. Those small moments proved important as both teams tried to control the tempo and create separation.

Even as the match became more difficult, Angel City continued to compete through the final whistle. The team pushed for chances late and worked to generate momentum in front of its supporters, but San Diego’s execution in key moments made the difference. For Angel City, the result showed the importance of finishing attacking sequences and staying sharp through every phase of the match.
