The Los Angeles Sparks return home on Friday night for a June 5 matchup against the Dallas Wings, looking to continue building momentum in the early part of the WNBA season. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT in Los Angeles, with Dallas visiting Crypto.com Arena for the first meeting between the two teams this year. The Sparks’ official schedule lists Dallas at Los Angeles on June 5, while the team’s season announcement highlighted this matchup as one of three meetings against Paige Bueckers and the Wings this season.

Los Angeles enters the game after a competitive stretch that included a 92-87 road win over the Washington Mystics and a narrow 84-81 loss to the Connecticut Sun. The Sparks have shown they can generate offense from multiple spots, with Erica Wheeler, Dearica Hamby, Azura Stevens and Nneka Ogwumike all giving the team different ways to score and create pressure. Against Dallas, Los Angeles will need that same balance, especially against a Wings team that has already shown it can win with different contributors.

Dallas comes into the matchup with confidence after a dominant 79-56 win over the Seattle Storm. According to the Wings, Dallas’ next game after that result is the June 5 road contest against Los Angeles, airing nationally on ION.   The Wings’ young core gives them pace and shot-making, and Paige Bueckers remains the headline player Los Angeles will need to contain.

For the Sparks, the key will be controlling the tempo and limiting Dallas’ transition opportunities. Los Angeles has enough half-court scoring to keep the game close, but defensive execution will decide whether the Sparks can turn this into a home win. If Wheeler can organize the offense, Hamby can impact the glass, and the Sparks can get consistent production from their frontcourt, Los Angeles should have a strong chance to protect home court.

The matchup also carries extra value for Los Angeles as the team continues to establish its identity. A win over Dallas would give the Sparks another important result against a young, talented opponent and help build momentum before the next stretch of the schedule.
